Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have been friends for a long time, and though recently there have been many reports that they’re not nearly as close as they were before, there is a lot of history there. But what does that mean for Taylor Swift’s upcoming wedding? Would Swift rather avoid the drama that might come with inviting Lively, or will the years of friendship prevail?
According to Rob Shuter, Lively expects an invite. “Blake is totally optimistic,” one source said. “She’s acting like the invite is already in the mail.”

Recent reports say the wedding won’t be small, which might be partly why Lively is still counting on an invite. But Shuter says it’s not a done deal. However, for Lively, “She keeps going back to the beginning,” the insider explained. “She was around when Taylor and Travis first got together — she feels like part of their story.”
“She sees herself as inner circle,” the source added. “Not optional — essential.”
The two haven’t been seen together in a while, and there have been multiple reports that their friendship isn’t doing well amid Lively’s legal fight with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, which Swift ended up in the middle of. But some have interpreted a song on Swift’s latest album as a defense of Lively. Others, however, are still skeptical.
“People around Taylor aren’t so sure,” the insider said. “They don’t see Blake as a must-have guest.”
Especially considering Lively is back in the news, thanks to the trial against Baldoni. “There’s a lot of baggage right now,” the source explained. “And Taylor is being incredibly careful about her guest list.”
But camp Blake is steadfast. “She truly believes she’ll be there,” the insider said. “She’s not even considering the alternative.” However, they also said that “She’s hopeful. But she may be the only one who thinks this invite is coming.”
This all comes amid reports that Swift’s friends are already planning the Bachelorette party, and Blake is not invited. Us Weekly reported that Swift may be planning two separate girls’ trips to make sure all her friends can attend. “There could be multiple getaways, and they all will be extremely private, with just Taylor and her close girlfriends,” an insider said.
Who are those on the list? According to the source, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, the Haim sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana, Kylie Kelce, Brittany Mahomes, and childhood BFF Abigail Anderson “are planning something special for Taylor ahead of her big day.” No Blake. Which doesn’t mean she can’t be invited to the wedding, of course. But it feels like a sign.
Swift herself had spoken about getting her friends together. “Everyone’s scattered across the world,” she told former Spice Girl Emma Bunton on the U.K.’s Heart Radio in October 2025. “You would think that I had been the type of person who would’ve obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person, so I haven’t actually even thought about that.”
Now that she’s thinking about it, we’ll see what the list ends up being.
