King Charles is coming to the US soon for a state visit and will meet with US President Donald Trump. The two have met on several occasions before, and appear to be on good terms. Facts. King Charles’ youngest son, Harry, now lives in the United States. His relationship with his father is complicated, to say the least. Facts.

So, recent reports that President Trump was eager to be the peacemaker between the two weren’t really surprising. The real question is whether they will continue after Harry’s recent comments and Trump’s response.

What happened? Well, Prince Harry made a surprise trip to Ukraine on Thursday, April 23. There, he gave a speech at the Kyiv Security forum and called for “American leadership to step up.” There was no direct mention of Trump, but that’s beside the point. It’s obvious who he was talking about. Trump certainly thought so.

Later that day, according to People, the President was asked by reporters about the comments, saying, “Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife?” and adding, “Please give her my regards.”

“I know one thing: Prince Harry is not speaking for the U.K. That’s for sure. I think I’m speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice,” Trump also said.

Harry had joked about Trump during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in December 2025. He said, “I heard you elected a king,” to laughter from the crowd and boos at Trump. He also, while talking about the upcoming World Cup, seemed to criticize Trump’s immigration policies.

“Next year, I know we are looking forward to welcoming more Brits from across the pond. Provided they behave and if they make it through customs and past ICE,” Harry said.

Trump has made less-than-charitable comments about Meghan Markle before. In 2019, he called her “nasty” before later denying he said that, even though it was on tape. The comment came during an interview with The Sun, as a reaction to Markle calling him “misogynistic” and “divisive” during the 2016 campaign.

“I didn’t know that,” Trump responded at the time. “No, I didn’t know that she was nasty.”

Despite this, recent reports painted Trump as the would-be peacemaker. RadarOnline recently reported that Trump is eager to mend the rift between Charles and his son by reaching out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“There’s real talk of framing this as a ‘peace moment.’ Trump wants to be seen as the guy who brings everyone together – whether it works or not,” an insider told the outlet.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to the United States. Neither of them has been complimentary of Trump, and the president hasn’t had great things to say about them either. However, he’s reportedly still interested in a meeting between Charles and Harry.

“Trump is the ultimate showman,” sources told the outlet. “If there’s a chance to turn diplomacy into must-watch TV, he’ll take it every time… Sometimes just putting the idea out there is the move. And no one trolls the room – or the world – better than Trump.”
